Reasons to Choose a Roller Door for Your Garage

Blog

It's easy to take something, such as roller doors, for granted if they've been around a while, but that can be a testament to how useful or attractive they are. Plus, roller doors are constantly being updated. Here are some reasons why you should choose this style over the alternatives for your garage.

Preserve the Storage Area

A roller door is convenient in terms of the space it doesn't require in a garage. These doors don't take up much space in the garage itself, whether they are open or closed. When closed, they're slim, and they don't protrude into the floor area. Once you open a roller door, it sits in a tidy bundle above the opening.

You don't lose any wall storage area, as you can with some sliding doors that need an empty wall to slide along. And with a roller door, you can make use of the garage ceiling to store items and leave the lights where they are. The reason for this is that roller doors don't extend over the ceiling as sectional doors do.

Perfect for a Tight Driveway

On the outside of a garage sits the driveway, and this may be your greatest challenge if it's cramped and compact. Some houses are close to the footpath, and they don't have an expansive paved area. If that is you, a roller door is ideal, as it doesn't encroach on tight driveways. Roller doors move vertically, and they don't swing outward like tilt doors. This means you can open the garage door even if a car is parked directly in front of it on the driveway.

Operable Options

You probably don't want to be limited to manual or automated options with a garage door, and roller models offer both options. A remote control will open the door for you, which is ultra-convenient at night or in the rain. Another possibility is to have a keypad put on the garage exterior, the advantage being that it can't be misplaced if it's attached to the wall. You can choose the installation options that best suit you.

Appearance

Last but not least is the appearance of a roller door. The garage door faces the street, and it's a conspicuous part of your home, affecting its street appeal. Roller doors come in various beautiful woody and dusky colours that look like natural elements such as blue seas, golden sand and silver-grey cliffs. Thus, the door will blend with the front garden. And with plenty of colours available, you can choose one that echoes a component of your house, whether that's the roof, the siding or the front door.

Loving, Maintaining, Strengthening, Painting and Decorating Your Garage Doors

Welcome to my blog. My name is Colin, and I work in a library in a small town. As we don't have a lot of patrons, we have a lot of downtime, and I am allowed to read during that time if no shelving needs to be done. Fiction was my first love, but over years at the library, I have delved into a range of other topics, including ones I thought would never interest me. In particular, I have done a lot of reading on garage doors, which is a surprisingly interesting topic. I wanted to create a blog so decided to throw my focus there. I hope you like these tips and ideas on garage doors and that they help you.
